Painting with Gouache

This painting was executed using watercolor and gouache. all the design on the figures was painted with gouache (white gouache colored with watercolor). If gouache is diluted with too much water it will become watery and flake off. If gouache is applied too thickly it will crack and chip off, so one must reach a happy medium when using it. Of course, by adding white gouache to watercolor, the paint become opaque and transparency is lost, but gouache is considered to be a watercolor and would qualify in aquamedia shows. How do you use gouache and are you satisfied with the results you get?
